Biography
A career built on financial discipline, practical experience, and doing it right.
Jim Rudig oversees the financial and administrative systems that keep TECOBI organized and moving forward. His work spans accounting, financial controls, human resources, tax coordination, business administration, and the many details required to keep the company's financial ducks in a row.
Jim earned a degree in Credit and Finance from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and later completed an Accounting degree at MSU. After three years in banking, an old college roommate invited him to leave the bank, move to Denver, and run the books for a startup. Jim was young enough to say yes, and that decision became the start of a long career in finance and business operations.
Over the following 27 years, Jim served as a CFO, Controller, HR Manager, and just about everything else a growing company could require. His experience includes two startups, two shutdowns, two company sales, and a marriage, along with more practical knowledge of GAAP, finance, tax, HR, and what not to do than most people would admit to enjoying.
Jim thrives on attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and efficiency. His standard is simple: do it right the first time, then find a way to do it better the next time. He dislikes being wrong or not knowing an answer, which keeps him learning and makes him equally eager to teach others through clearly documented, easy-to-follow processes that are always filed in the correct folder.
That combination of financial discipline and practical operating experience gives TECOBI a steady foundation. Jim helps the team understand the numbers, strengthen the process behind them, and address problems before they become expensive distractions.
Perspective
Spreadsheets, coffee, and a retired cowboy's perspective.
Before spreadsheets became his daily arena, Jim trained horses and rode bulls. Those years taught him patience, persistence, and how to remain calm when something much larger than expected suddenly goes sideways, skills that translate surprisingly well to finance, HR, and the normal highs and lows of business.
Jim has retired from the cowboy life and hung up his spurs, saddle, bull rope, and chaps. Outside of TECOBI, he still enjoys an occasional round of golf, camping, fly-fishing, and hunting, although these days he prefers an RV to a tent. He is happy to watch the rodeo from the stands with an ice-cold beer and handle the accounting from his desk with hot coffee, sugar only. Then it is time to bring on the spreadsheets.
